Joe Walsh in the beginning

We began our new week of overnight vinyl yesterday morning with Joe Walsh and his first solo album, Barnstorm, released in 1972.

We first got to know Joe as the guitarist and featured singer with The James Gang. He had his own vision of what he wanted to do though and eventually opted for a solo career. Barnstorm was his debut and also the name of Joe’s trio at the time which included Kenny Passarelli(bass) and Joe Vitale(drums), both of whom went on to play with a number of artists such as CSN, Stephen Stills and others.

We listened to Side 2, highlighted by the great early Walsh jam, “Turn To Stone”.
