Rock out at “Concert for a Cause” to benefit Autism Speaks

Join the Drive Road Crew and Seaver in the Cube at Rivers Casino on Friday, April 21st, and enjoy “Concert for a Cause” to benefit Autism Speaks. Music will be provided by classic rock cover band ARRA, there will be raffles and prizes including a trip for two to RIU Mexico courtesy of Apple Vacations, all to raise money for a great cause during Autism Awareness Month.

WACO’s Third Annual “Steak” Your Claim Meat Raffle

When it comes to helping underprivileged children, the Woodfield Area Children’s Organization, WACO, gets pretty creative.  Like their upcoming “Steak” Your Claim Meat Raffle on April 29th at Real Time Sports in Elk Grove Village.  It’s an afternoon of fun and fundraising, and you could go home with a 12-pound slab of bacon!  For more info visit the Woodfield Area Children’s Organization.

Celebrate Arbor Day at the Morton Arboretum

Nobody celebrates Arbor Day like the Morton Arboretum in suburban Lisle.  A bunch of activities are planned, starting on April 28th with “Dress Like a Tree and Get in Free.”  It can be as simple as a green t-shirt, brown hat and brown pants or “branch out” and try something more elaborate!  You can also join in tree plantings, go on a tree hunt, enjoy story time, and check out their big Arbor Day Plant Sale complete with Plant Geniuses on hand to help with your selections.  Details are at Morton Arboretum.

Makin’ Strides for Strays Walk-A-Thon

Bring the family and bring the pooch to the 24th Annual Makin’ Strides for Strays, a two-and-a-half mile walk-a-thon, Sunday, May 7th in Naperville to benefit A.D.O.P.T., Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment.  This not-for-profit organization provides temporary shelter and care to dogs and cats in search of their forever homes.  For more info, go to A.D.O.P.T.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration for Kids Work Children’s Museum

This Cinco de Mayo celebration has it all…Mariachi Band, tequilla tastings, hors d’oeuvres, wine auction and it’s a benefit for Kids Work Children’s Museum, the only kid’s museum in Will County.  The Cinco de Mayo fundraiser is Friday night, May 5th, in Frankfort.  All the money raised will help the non-profit museum upgrade its exhibits for children.  Find out more at Kids Work Children’s Museum.

Say Yes to Improv/NAMI Metro Suburban

Theatre of Western Springs is hosting a special night of improv to benefit those with mental illness and their loved ones.  “Say Yes to Improv,” on Thursday, May 11th, is a fundraiser for NAMI Metro Suburban, an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness serving those in west suburban Cook County.  Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at NAMI Metro Suburban.

Walk MS: Chicago

Former Blackhawks player Bryan Bickell has done it.  Recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Bickell took part in a walk to benefit MS research.  You can too!  Walk MS events are being held at Soldier Field and all across the Chicago area to raise research dollars for the National Multiple Sclerosis so that each person with MS can live his or her best life.  To sign up, visit Walk MS.

Anti-Cruelty’s Bark in the Park!

It’s Chicago’s biggest party for pooches.  The 23rd Annual Bark in the Park is Sunday, May 21st on Stadium Green next to Soldier Field.  Dogs and their humans are welcome at this 5K Walk.  All the proceeds benefit Chicago’s Anti-Cruelty Society.  For more information visit Bark in the Park.
