Whether you’re going to the show or not,  you can help family farmers fight…to stay on their land, to grow good food for all of us, and to raise a new generation of farmers to take care of our soil and water. It’s been in the headlines – some 100 cats removed from a foreclosed home in Chicago’s Belmont Central neighborhood. Tree House Humane Society and Chicago Animal Care and Control have been working to trap, provide veterinary care, and find placement for this huge number of cats. Round Lake Community Band Seeks New Members

Join the band. The Round Lake Community Band is looking for new members. They are looking for people who want to continue or start-up playing their band instrument again. No audition required. Rehearsals are on Tuesday nights on the stage of Indian Hill School in Round Lake Heights from 7-9pm. They perform 10-12 concerts year. We are an acivity of the Round Lake Area Park Distict. The CAUSE Foundation assists United Airlines flight attendants and their families worldwide who are in financial distress due to illness, injury, or disability. Walk for Peace

Play for Peace will host its 3rd annual Walk for Peace and World Peace Day Celebration at the Bartlett Nature Center in James “Pate” Philip State Park on Saturday, September 19, 2015. This family-friendly event coincides with celebrations around the world in honor of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace. The event is scheduled from 9 am to 1 pm, and features the 5k walk, an international food festival, music, face painting, cooperative games and more. It also includes a silent auction and display booths hosted by community organizations. Walking trails are stroller and wheelchair accessible and dog-friendly. The Chicago CureSearch Walk will bring together over 2000 people to celebrate children with cancer and honor those who have lost their fight. Keshet will host its eighth annual benefit concert at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts (9501 Skokie Blvd., Skokie), featuring multi-platinum award-winning group, The Doobie Brothers, on Saturday, November 14 at 8:00 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Keshet’s educational scholarships, vocational training, and recreational programs for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
