Volunteers Urgently Needed to Deliver Meals to Seniors on Christmas Day!

December 9, 2021

LBFE

With the help of nearly 200 volunteers, Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) will deliver homemade holiday dinners and celebration bags to 600 lonely and isolated Chicago elders on Christmas Day.

Because the holiday falls on Saturday this year, however, many of our longtime volunteers will be celebrating away from the city. LBFE urgently needs help from new volunteers – Chicagoans who have two to three hours to share on Christmas Day to spread warm cheer and remind a Chicago elder they are not forgotten.

“Chicago elders aging alone know friendship, conversation and connection because volunteers share their time,” said Josh Chartier, Director of Volunteer Services & Community Engagement. “We’re hoping to get the word out about our last virtual volunteer orientations of the year, on Dec 9th, so folks have time to complete our simple onboarding process before delivering elders’ holiday meals on Christmas Day.”
